Screening of Unsound and Deafying Gravity

On Tuesday 8th March 5pm-8pm in Week 3 of semester 1 2022 we screened the short film Defying Gravity followed by the movie Unsound. 

This event took place as a hybrid event so that people could come and join us on Camperdown Campus and eat food and meet others or watch from the comfort of their home.

Deafying Gravity

Deafying Gravity is a short film documentary directed by Sam Martin where Deaf queer aerial performer Katia Schwartz reflects on life identity and her extraordinary career.  

Unsound

Unsound is a full length Movie in which a disillusioned musician's romantic spark is ignited by a young trans man as they work together to save his community nightclub for the Deaf.

Q&A

The movies were followed by a short interpreted Q&A with Sam Martin, the director of Deafying Gravity.

For those attending in person, food was served and attendees had the opportunity to socialise and discuss the films.

Accessibility 

Both films were open captioned

The location was wheelchair accessible 

The welcome and Q&A were Auslan interpreted
